New chat in Telegram

In 12 days we’ve got 92 participants in Russian speaking group and 15 in English speaking group Calculate Linux in Telegram. Except of those public groups we’ve opened several private groups specialised in topics of localisation, documentation, development and design.

Meet the new calculate-sources

Since calculate-sources v3.7.10 / 3.8, your kernel will be built on a quite new basis.

All kernel settings were moved to templates

How it works

Our new approach somewhat reminds me of eclasses that change the way an ebuild behaves without actually changing its version. It doesn't help release binary updates, but makes routines simplier. Besides:

  1. Kernel updates will be released soon after the vanilla release has been announced, as we won't need extra time to patch ebuilds.

A bit of news on what's going on in here...

New Calculate Utilities 3.1.3

Since v3.1.3, Calculate Utilities will have a new approach to updating config files, rewriting them on critical moments only. This means when your system has just been installed or when the host has joined a domain. And once the files have been updated, our brand new analog of dispatch-conf prompts for yes or no before actually applying changes.

We are happy to announce the release of the first Calculate Linux 13 beta version.

As ever, you are welcome to choose between Calculate Linux Desktop featuring either KDE (CLD), GNOME (CLDG) or XFCE (CLDX), Calculate Directory Server (CDS) for server solutions, Calculate Media Center (CMC) should you need any and, last but not least, scratch versions for those preferring minimal installations: Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS) and Calculate Scratch Server (CSS).

CL 13 : Beta Release

We are happy to announce the beta release of Calculate Linux 13. Bootable ISOs will be available very soon, but if you are a CL user already, you can update right now!

The major change we made was migrating to Calculate Utilities 3.1 (though also in betas for the time being).

In v3.1, templates are not package-bound: they can now call variables of different modules, thus reducing the number of calls and remodeling the tree, which has become event-based. As for events, they have, respectively,
